The small soap and candle business that William Colgate began in New York City early in the 19th century is now, more than 200 years later, a truly global company serving hundreds of millions of consumers worldwide.
Since 2009, Colgate-Palmolive has partnered with SAI360 to completely customize learning experiences, off-the-shelf compliance training content, and dedicated program guidance to support the organization’s global ethics and compliance standards, code of conduct, and Ethical Leadership programs.
As part of their initiative to make Colgate-Palmolive a leader in sustainability and innovation, the company designed a set of policies that ensures they stick to their promise. To align these corporate governance policies, fundamental values, and business practices guidelines with their ethics and compliance program’s training, SAI360 works with Al Lee, Vice President and Chief Internal Governance Officer. He and his extended global team of ethics and compliance professionals to help employees around the world “maintain the highest ethical standards.”
Each year, SAI360 and Colgate collaborate to deliver new learning experiences that continue to be engaging and relevant for each individual and ensure their participation is measurable for reporting purposes.

The Q&A below reflects a conversation conducted with Al Lee in October 2020.
SAI360 has worked with Colgate for more than a decade. What do you attribute to the success of the relationship?
SAI360 has been very helpful and a valuable partner in the development and production of Colgate’s Ethical Leadership Training courses and materials for many years. Our training has scored very well with Colgate People and the feedback we receive has been very positive.
This is a result of the teamwork and working relationship we have with SAI360. Our SAI360 team has provided the knowledge and know-how needed to turn our thoughts about what Colgate People need to know to help reduce compliance risk into engaging learning tools.
Beyond the ability to build engaging learning tools, are there any other elements of the relationship that you’d like to highlight?
I consider client service as a major driver of, as well as a measure of, the strength of a client-partner relationship. SAI360’s service quotient is superior.
The team answered when we called, and as a result, we have provided our teams around the Colgate World, including our Board of Directors, consistently improving training that has allowed us to help the company maintain its High Ethical Standards.
