Compliance officers and compliance professionals have had six months to digest and begin applying the General Compliance Program Guidance (GCPG) published by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in November 2023.

The OIG reiterated several practices from previous guidance materials and outlined new ones that health care organizations should consider implementing in their compliance programs.  Among these practices include, but are not limited to, increased involvement by the executive-level compliance committee in the compliance program, creating incentives for promoting compliance and compliant behavior by employees, and instituting a risk assessment process to inform audit and monitoring activities for the compliance program.

But, how is that implementation going?

As the OIG has stated numerous times, compliance programs are not a one-size-fits-all operation – and what may work for one organization may not work for another. Size, resources, location, and executive and governance support are all important factors in the implementation of a compliance program. For some compliance officers, there are real challenges associated with finding the right resources in implementing the best practices promulgated by the OIG in its various guidance materials, with getting leadership support as a top challenge for many organizations.

In this webinar, Strategic Management Services consultant Natalie Lesnick, and Senior Consultant Suzanne Castaldo will cover:

  • An overview of the November 2023 General Compliance Program Guidance
  • Best practices for compliance officers to consider in aligning with the General Compliance Program Guidance
  • Challenges in implementing the General Compliance Program Guidance
  • How to get leadership buy-in for your compliance program
